Privacy Policy for WorkCal

WorkCal ("the app", "we", "us", "our") is a shift-work calendar for Android and iPhone, provided by Unicorn Ranch Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17343945, registered office 3 Foxlands Road, Dagenham, RM10 8XU.

The short version

We do not collect anything. WorkCal is free, with no ads, no account or sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting and no tracking. We have no server for this app and never receive your data. A few things can leave your phone, but only if you make them happen or through your phone's own systems. They are listed below.

What stays on your phone

These are stored only on your phone:

• shifts, rotations and calendars;
• notes;
• pay rates and earnings;
• photos and drawings you add to days;
• alarms and settings.

What can leave your phone

• Public holidays (optional). If you pick a holiday country, the app asks the free Nager.Date service (date.nager.at) for that country's holidays. It sends the country and year. That service can see your phone's IP address, like any website. No calendar or personal data is sent.
• Phone backup. On Android, the app's data and its daily backup files can be included in your Google account backup. Photos are not. A direct phone-to-phone transfer can include photos too. This is run by Google under your phone's settings. On iPhone, the app's data can likewise be included in device backups such as iCloud, depending on your own settings.
• Backup files, shared images and PDFs. These are created on your phone and sent only where you choose.
• Phone calendar export (optional). With your permission, shifts are written to your phone's calendar. If that calendar syncs to Google or iCloud, those services will hold them.
• Emailing support. Your own email app opens with the app version, device model, system version and language filled in. You can see this before sending. If you use the crash screen's report option, an error description is included too.
• Ratings. The store's own rating prompt may appear. This is handled by Apple or Google.

Permissions

• Notifications and alarms: for shift alarms and note reminders.
• Calendar: only for the optional export.
• Internet: only for public holidays and the links described above.

You choose photos through your phone's picker, so the app has no photo or storage permission. It has no location, contacts or microphone access.

Deleting your data

You can delete your data in the app, or by uninstalling it. Uninstalling does not remove files you exported, or copies in your own Google or iCloud account. As we hold nothing, there is nothing for us to delete.

Selling or sharing data

We don't sell or share data.

Children

WorkCal is made for people aged 16 and over, including 16 and 17 year olds. It is not directed at children under 16.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the UK GDPR, EU GDPR or similar laws to access, correct or delete personal data held about you. We don't hold any personal data from WorkCal, so there is nothing for us to access or delete. You are welcome to contact us with any questions.

Changes to this policy

Any changes to this policy will be posted on this page, and the "Last updated" date above will change.
